Fishy smell. Thin white/grey homogenous discharge
- No itching, soreness.
- History of vaginal washes.
What is it? What investigation findings? and what antibiotic?
Bacterial Vaginosis ~ Gardenella V & Mycoplasma Hominis
Investigations:
pH more than 4.5
Clue cells on microscopy - stippled epithelial cells
Management = metronidazole 400mg BD 5-7 days
Fishy smell. Frothy yellow/green discharge
- Itching and soreness present
- Dysuria present
- Sexually active
- Strawberry cervix
What kind of organism causes it. What is the management?
Trichomoniasis - flagellated Trichomonas Vaginalis
Management: metronidazole 400mg BD 5-7 days
What are the symptoms of Chlamydia? Female and male
Female: dysuria, cervical and pelvic tenderness, dyspareunia, vaginal discharge, IMB/PCB,
Male: dysuria, epididymo-orchitis, reactive arthtritis
What tests would u do for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
Vulvo-vaginal wall swab (high) for female
Urine test for male
then use nuclear-acid amplification test
Management for Chlamydia for:
Non-pregnant female and male
Pregnant females
Doxycycline 100mg BD for 7 days
Azi/erythromycin if preg
F: asymptomatic (70%), vaginal discharge, dysuria, lower abdominal pain
M: dysuria & frequency, MUCOPURULENT urethral discharge, urethritis and meatal oedema

Management?
Gonorrhoea via Neisseria Gonorrhoea (Gram Negative)
MX: Ceftriaxone 1g IM (one off dose) or with azithromycin
Management for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?
Doxycycline WITH metronidazole AND a single dose of IM ceftriaxone 14 days
Cheese Curd/White discharge and plaques on vagina.
Redness of vulva and labia minora.
Vulval pruritis/itch, burning, swelling and dyspareunia.

Candidiasis (thrush) from candida albicans or glabrata.
Pregnancy, T2DM, tissue maceration, HIV and use of antimicrobial or immunosuppressive drugs.
Topical antifungals like imidazoles or fluconazoles.
