What chemical used in ward for cleaning
Stat III (Terminal cleaning)
- Mikro-Quat (Normal cleaning)
- Cleaning material used for CD Toxin patient
→ Virusolve wipes
When do you check the pandemic kit?
- Every 1t of the month. Can be found in Equipment Room.
Where do you keep blood spillage kit
Blood Spill Kit can be found in the Prep Room cupboard above the medication fridge.
Just follow the instructions outside the box.
What should you do during a chemical spill?
-Refer to SDS file to find out what needs to be done to contain them
-Cordon off the area
-If Necessary, open the window to ventilate the place.
-Raise the PRISM to document the spill.
Needle stick Protocol
-Wash in tap water and soap (do not squeeze)
-Inform nurse manager, doctor
-Go SOHC if office hour. If non-office hour go to A&E
-To take blood from affected person and patient (hep b, hep c and hiv)
- The staff should raise PRISM
- HCW shall attend subsequent follow-up on next working day in SOHC
Pain assessment scale
Pain Scales - Numeric, Descriptive,
Behavioural
-Pain shall be assessed before and after administration of any medication and/or treatment for pain.
Pan assessment shall be guided using the acronym PQRST;
Provoking factors of pain(causes, aggravating factors)
Quality/description of pain(sharp, dull, aching etc)
Region/location of pain and if radiates
Severity of pain
Time of onset of pain
Intervention for patient complaint of pain
Doctor shall notified if pain score is >4 during reassessment if it is not acceptable to patient
- Doctor shall be notified immediately if pain score is 7 and above
- Assessed for pain on initial admission and throughout their hospital stay at least once per shift
- Observe for pain relief after pain score is 7 and above
* Oral Medication: 1-2 hours after administration
* IM Medications: 60 minutes after administration
* IV Medications: 30 minutes after administration
