Q

Discuss the basics of propofol

A
  • Sedation. and general anesthesia
  • Hepatic (CY450) + extrahepatic metabolism
  • Renal + extra renal excretion
  • Short duration (10-20 min)
  • NO ANALGESIC EFFECT
  • dose dpendent effect on the Cv system
  • If you use a benzodiazapene, to control sezing in a patient, then use propofol next
  • in smalll animals, it can be used for induction of anesthesia or maintenace of anesthesia
  • MORE PROFOUND HYPOVOLEMIC, GERIATRIC OR LV COMPRISED
