- do not draw attention to stuttering (Johnson’s diagnosogenic theory)
- change the environment (demands) that maintain stuttering (DCM-talk slower, use less complex language, no negative thoughts, no speaking in large group)
- improve the capacities of the child (people usually don’t do this)
- improve related emotions or interactions (self-acceptance, not as much with little children)
