How would you describe an inclusive environment?
An environment which is designed and managed to allow people with a diverse range of needs and abilities to access and use.
When would you ensure an environment is inclusive?
Design stage and through the building occupancy.
How can an existing building be modified to become more inclusive?
Changing Places Toilets: A Campaign to make toilet facilities larger in shopping centres.

Can you give another example of house an environment can be made more inclusive
Brail, Handrails, Lifts, Ramps
What is a reasonable adjustment? ( Inclusive Environment)
An alteration to make a building for inclusive that is reasonable in cost, practicality, and effectiveness
What is direct discrimination?
Treating another person worse because of a protected characteristic. e.g a promoting a male over a female because you think they may go on maternity leave in a few years.
What is indirect discrimination?
When an organisation puts a rule or a policy or a way of doing things in place which has a worse impact on someone with a protected characteristic than someone without one. e.g putting an email in the evening or late can impact those with childcare responsibilities.
What is harassment?
People creating a hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment e.g making offensive comment about someone with a disability
What is victimisation?
Not treating people unfairly if they are taking action or supporting someone under the Equality Act e.g an employee makes a complaint of sexual harassment at work and is dismissed as a consequence.
