What is the Data Protection Act 2018?
Controls how personal information is used by organisations and gives individual rights to be informed.UK’s implementation of GDPR.

What are the penalties under DPA 2018?
1) Fines- Greater of 4% of global turnover or £17.5 million
What do you need to do if you have a data breach?
Notify the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) within 72 hours of the breach occurring.
What is the Freedom of Information Act?
Freedom of Information act came into effect 2000,it allows an individual to request access to information held by a public body. The public body is required to provide that information (normally in 20 working days) in the requested format, however they can charge a fee for this.
What is a SAR?
Subject Access Request – Demand that the individual be given all the information that a company holds on them.
How do we comply with UK GDPR when arranging a marketing list
Send emails individually rather en masse to protect personal information.
How long should data be retained?
- Six years from when the service was provided
- Six years from when a loss was suffered
