Researchers like Milgram and Asch demonstrated how situational social pressures could influence an individual’s behaviour.

Organisations used this research to change the behaviour of citizens, by sending letters to people who didn’t pay their tax and including statistics showing the majority were paying their taxes. This project increased taxes paid within 23 days by more than 1.6 million.
