impact of labour reforms - health Flashcards
health - disease
B1: in 1948, the national health service (NHS) was introduced to eradicate the giant of disease by offering health care to all, the NHS had 3 aims; Universal access - treat all medical problems - free at the point of use.
B2: under the NHS patients could receive a range of treatments that they were previously unable to access: glasses - fake teeth - maternity services.
F: introducing the NHS meant that everyone in Britain could now get health care but before 1948 more than half of the british population did not receive free access to health care.
A: however, one problem with the NHS was that many hospitals were outdated - limiting the effectiveness of the treatment that patients would receive from NHS.
