Active Immunization
Resistance developed in response to a vaccine and usually characterized by the presence of an antibody
Onset of protection - usually 1 mo of vaccine dose
Passive Immunization
Admin of immune globulin
Antibody produced in another host by admin of an antibody containing prep
Onset of protection - usually within hrs
Available for- varicella, hep A or B, tetanus, rabies
Repeat Tdap indicated
If larger wound and last dose > 5 years ago
