Immunity Disorders Flashcards
Allergy
The inappropriate response of the immune system to certain antigens is called allergy
Other name of allergy
Hypersensitivity
Antobodies production on allergy
IG E
Substance causing allergy
Allergens
What happens on first contact?
IGE produced bind to the FC receptors of mast cells and basophils
This is called sensitisation
What happens on 2nd contact?
Allergen cross links between two FC receptors and this causes the degranulation of mast cells and it releases Histamine Bradykinin Serotonin Prostaglandins
What happens when histamine is released?
Dilutes the blood vessels Oedema- swelling And redness- erythema Contraction is smooth muscle This attracts the neutrophils and eosinophils
Asthma
Allergic reaction on the lower respiratory tract
Sneezing, difficulty in breathing( due to constriction in smooth muscle), running nose
How to control asthma
Aerosol inhalants
For determining cause of allergy what is done ?
Very small dose of possible alergen is given to patients and then quickly Anti histamine, steroids, adrenalin is given to reduce the symptoms
How to desensitised allergy
Giving injections of the antigen which leads to the formation of blocking antibodies IgG
Anaphylaxis
Serious life threatening allergic reaction
Common anaphylactic reaction
Food, insect stings,meditation,and latex
