Imaging Of Uralogical Systems Flashcards
What is cystology
Taking a camera into the bladder
What shows up darkest on an X-ray
Radiolucent (Air)
What shows whitest on an ex ray
Radio-opaque (Metal)
What is a positive contrast X-ray
Using High density substances, so large portions of X-rays are absorbed so the image appears whiter
Where are the kidneys found
Dorsal abdomen
Where is the bladder found
Caudal abdomen
What is negative contrast X-ray
Using low density substances like air so substances don’t absorb the X-rays, so show structures as darker
How do utrasounds produce an image
Use sound waves that exceed the normal hearing range, different substances will have different acoustics, so some will bounce echos back more than others
What type of tissue show up dark in an ultrasound
Hypoechoic
What type of tissues show up bright on an ultrasound
Hyperechoic
What type of tissue shows up black on an ultrasound
Anechoic
Where is the the left kidney found in the dog
Ventral to the L2 - L4 vertebrae
