What to say when demonstrating injection on deltoid:

A

2-3 fingers below the acromion process, imagine the hand in the axillal fold and an upside down triangle between the two. Give injection in the middle of the triangle.

What to say when demonstrating injection on ventragluteal:

A

Palm on the greater trochanter, thumb pointing to the groin. Index finger on anterior-superior ileac noch, pull middle finger back as far as you can and inject right between those two fingers.

Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

A

Antidepressant.

What to monitor:
Suicidal thoughts

What to say to the patient:
“This is to help you feel better.”

Range: 100 mg 2x a day

Adverse effects:
Seizures/ Suicidal thoughts/ Agitation/ Headache

Diazepam (Valium)

A

Benzodiazapine.

What to monitor:
BP / Pulse / Respirations

What to say to the patient:
“This is to help you feel more relaxed.”
Could be due to anxiety, or muscle spasms.
Sometimes used to control seizures.

Range:
2-10 mg 2-4 times a day for anxiety
