ILM 190303 G (A) Flashcards
What is Cross Steering?
This is where the operator will disengage a clutch on either side while going downhill to turn the unit.
How is a Gradual Left turn accomplished?
Disengage the drive clutch on the left tracks.
How is a sharp left turn accomplished?
Disengage the drive clutch and engage the brake on the left tracks
How are the Steering Clutches inside the final drive operated and released?
They are spring applied and hydraulically released.
What type of brakes are used on tracked equipment?
Band type brakes on the outer surface or
Clutch type wet brakes
What is the difference between non modularized and modularized drive systems?
The brakes are spring applied as the steering clutches are. During braking the drive clutches are vented to slow the vehicle.
What are some signs of brake clutches slipping during a stall test?
The unit will creep in either direction
When checking overall unit pressure, at low idle, if the pressures are low what can this tell you?
There is excessive leakage within the system.
What should the steering clutch pressure be when sitting still?
Zero
