ILM 190303 D Flashcards
What are the three circuits within a transmission?
Clutch Application Circuit
Torque Converter Charging Circuit
Transmission Lubrication Circuit
What kind of pressure does the clutch application circuit use?
Between 100-500 PSI
What pressure is within the torque converter charge circuit?
50-125 PSI
What pressure is within the transmission lubrication circuit?
30-50 PSI
When do you check the transmission fluid?
When the unit is at operating temperature and at low idle.
The priority valve ensures that it does not open until what PSI?
320 PSI
How are speed clutches engaged first?
The pressure differential valve allows 55PSI more in to these clutches to allow faster activation.
What prevents the unit from moving when started in a gear range?
The pressure differential valve will not have pressure to supply to the clutches to activate them until put back to neutral.
What 2 factors are involved in Automatic Transmission shift cycle time?
Ground Speed
Throttle Position
What pressures are used within the Governor Circuit?
Clutch application pressure is acted upon by centrifugal force caused by output shaft speed.
What else is governor speed used for besides speed reference?
It is used to lockup the torque converter.
What is the modulator circuit and how does it work?
This allows the shift positions to be adjusted by the throttle position. The clutch application pressure is used to provide a hydraulic signal as reference of throttle position.
