ILM 190203 D (A+B) Electrical Circuit Fundamentals Flashcards
What is the common circuit protection for a main current draw?
60-80 Amps
What is a Type 1 Circuit Protector?
Quick restoring bi metallic strip.
What is a Type 2 Circuit Protector?
This will keep the system open until the overload condition is rectified.
What is a Type 3 Circuit Protector?
This will require manual reset.
How does a rheostat work to dim lighting circuits?
This uses a sweeping brush over a resistance to increase voltage drop across its resistance, resulting in a lower voltage across the remainder of the circuit containing the lights.
How does a solid state digital dimmer work?
This uses duty cycle to turn the lamps on and off faster than the eye can see to make them appear dimmer.
What are three types of flashing devices used for hazard lights?
Electronic flasher, solid state and Electric Mechanical.
Why do LED lamp upgrades result with a fast or non functioning flash function for signals and hazards?
The resistance within an LED bulb is not great enough to draw a large current that a flasher may require to generate the heat to make it function properly.
How much less current draw does an LED have?
Approxiately 1/10th.
What are the two types of electric motors?
Permanent magnet and Parallel Wound
If an electric motor requires a slower speed, what can be done?
Attach a reduction gearbox.
What is the resting position of a wiper motor called?
The park position.
