IDT Damage Flashcards
How is IDT monitored ?
Annual overview
Annual pheremone trap in high risk areas (endemic fewer, outbreak lots)
Short term mgmt?
NPV for pop control - die in 5 weeks (Apply early in season and outbreak.)
BTK for foliage protection (early in season later in outbreak) or max kill (late in season early in outbreak.)
Mating disruption (experimental)
Why are NPV and BTK safe?
They are both pathogens that rest in crystal form that will only be activated in an alkaline gut.
Long term mgmt
Mix or sp conversion (moth won’t build up on Py)
Maintain vigor
Maintain even aged stand (take out intermediate and suppressed understory).
How often are severe outbreaks normal?
What are the damages
Every 9-10 years
30-40% mortality
Deformity causing reduced growth
