Battle of Saratoga

A

Date: August 6th, 1777

What: This was a battle that occurred near the Hudson river. The British began to think that they’re all bad ass and shit so they went ahead getting ready for the attack. This ended up being an allied victory

Why: This was a setback for the efforts of several Iroquois leaders.

A

What: This was an alliance between the Americans and the french against the British.

Why: This made it so there was were large international conflicts between the British, French, Americans, and the Spaniard, causing their resources to be reduced.

Treaty of Paris

A

Date: September 3, 1783

What: This had a great advantage in the untied states because it allowed recognition of independence in the colonies. They got new territory from southern Canada all the way to the Florida area. the British left now and the Americans rejoiced.

Why: This was the goal of the Franco american alliance which which seeked for america to become independent.

What: This is the act or process of releasing slaves from slavery. This was the first step to things like the emancipation proclamation.

Why: This was the started of the release of shaves which thus there was a higher population of the free rate

A

Date: No specificness, but during and after the revolutionary war

What: This is also known to be British supporters. Tories are Americans that had the views of the British and supported the British during the revolutionary war. Tories often sided with the Cavaleers during the English civil war.

Why: They were the resistance in the Americas that kept the Americans or the Yankees from revolting and fucking themselves over.

Abigail Adams

A

Date: 1776

What: She is the wife to John Adams who fought for more fair treatment for women. In the 1776 she wrote her husband that she hoped that men would treat women better then their fellow ancestors have.

Why: This signifies that there were beginning fights for women equality

State Constitution

A

Date: 1776

What: This was when each state wrote their own constitution because of the British rule. By 1776 both Connecticut and Rhode Island had constitutions and their own government. They each decided to wrote their own constitution so that there would not be any corruption.

Why: This showed that the colonies were indeed trying to break away from the British rule and settle their own government based of what they felt.

Land Ordicance

A

Date: 1784

What: This was created by Thomas Jefferson. This wanted to divide the western territories into self governing districts. It was said that they could petition for statehood as soon as their population equaled the population of the smallest state.

Why: The problem with this was that it made the formation of a community more difficult this the created the northwest ordiance

Northwest Ordiance

A

Date: 1787

What: Granted the whole area to be one territory. They passed a thing saying that now in order to be a state they must have at least 60,000 people.

Shays Rebellion (Fucking This ones Important)

A

Date: 1786

What: This was against the constitution. This was an uprising of farmers lead by a man named Daniel Shay. They were able to prevent the collection of debts that were either private or public.

Why: This showed some concession for farmers that were aggravated and yeah.

Great Compromise

A

Date: July 2, 1786

What: This called that there will be 2 house legislatures. This was made by Benjamin Franklin. Each slave would be counted as 3/5 of a person

Why: This was important because it allowed for temples to simmer down just a bit and establish a form of government that they felt was important

What: These were people that did not support the constitution. They felt that making a constitution would only increase their taxes and weaken the states. They complained that the constitution lacked a bill of right

Why: The significance of this was that the government needed a bill of rights and it also showed the thinking of the southerners during the civil war.

Hamilton’s Economic Plan

A

Date: 1791

What: He wanted it so that the government would have a permanent national debt so that the rich people would feel obligated to want to give the government loans. He stated that a successful government had to have a stable ruling class.

Why: This is what caused the banking system to be incorporated in the USA

Whiskey Rebellion

A

Date: 1794

What: Farmers in Pennsylvania were pissed because of the new whiskey taxes. They refused to pay them. The rebellion collapsed when a group of 15,000 Soldiers stormed inside and caused them to collapse by simply appearing.

Why: Because of this the last 2 colonies in the USA joined the union

Jay and Pickneys Treaty

A

Date: 1794-1795

What: The English and the french were at war with each other. The Americas wanted to remain neutral to the war. Jays treaty allowed it so that there was no war between the English and the USA. Pickneys treaty allowed trade to happen with Spain by the Florida area.

Why: This separated the British more from the Americans, making it be a free standing country.

A

Date: 1798-1799

What: These 3 dumbasses were supposed to go to the french to go negociate a treaty because the french took ships from the americans. These dumbasses demanded a loan from france and a small bribe. This pissed the french off. They were named soldiers XYZ and were the cause of the undeclared war.

Why: This strained the relationship that the Americans had with their only ally

Kentucky and Virginia Resolves

A

Date: 1798-1799

What: The alien and sedation acts occurred which caused it so there were obstacles to becoming american. The sedation acts allowed persecution of those engaged in sedation in the government. So the Kentucky and Virginia Resolves sought to reverse that.

Why: Showed that the government fought hard to withhold its governmental system
