Ice And Rain Protection Flashcards
What level is an icing alert and where is the light located
Level 1, overhead panel
When is engine anti-icing available
When engine anti-icing is selected via the engine anti-icing p/b, a pressure regulating and shutoff valve is opened, provided the engine is running and bleed-air pressure is sufficient.
How is the spinner de-iced
Ice protection for the conical spinner is provided by a flexible rubber tip.
Is the wing and tail anti-icing available on ground
No
What happens to the wing and tail system on TOGA activation
It is inhibited for 60secs after TOGA is initiated
What indication are there that wing and tail anti-icing is on
ON light on the wing and tail anti- icing p/b’s on the overhead panel
What would you expect to happen if you have wing and tail anti-ice on during idle descent
When the Auto Throttle System (ATS) is engaged, selection of tail anti-icing can result in increased thrust if necessary to supply sufficient bleed air. Speed brake will not deploy
What is the effect of overpressure in the wing duct
In case of a wing bay overheat or a duct overpressure, the modulating and shutoff valve will close and an alert will be presented. Level 2 alert, 29psi or more
What is the cause of a LO CPTY alert
<15 psi going into the wing
Temp falls below 35 degrees for tail
What is the effect of a bay overheat
Modulating shutoff valve will close and level 2 alert
What do the probe heat push buttons control
Probe heat 1,2,3
What probe is heated with only battery power available
In a battery-power-only condition only pitot head 1 is heated
When would you expect to get a PITOT HEAT NOT ON alert
a pitot heat system is OFF with the aircraft on the ground and the PARK BRAKE released. And at least 1 eng running
Which cockpit windows are heated
The flight deck front windows and sliding windows are electrically heated.
What happens if a window heat malfunction occurs in a front window
Descend 10000ft speed 300kts, level 2 alert
L or R window heat
