What is the function of the Flight warning computer
The FWC processes failure conditions and aircraft system data into visual and aural alerts, procedures and memo and status messages.
What warnings are not processed by FWC
Stall, ground proximity and wind shear warnings and TCAS are not processed in the FWC
What visual alerts are presented
Visual alerts can be presented via Master warning lights, Master Caution lights, Autoland caution lights, local lights and the Multifunction display system (MFDS).
How are aural alerts presented and what can they be
Aural alerts which comprise attention getting chimes and dedicated aurals are presented via the flight deck loudspeakers and headsets. Procedures and memo and status messages are presented by MFDS only.
What is the function of the SAP
The SAP enables automatic backup annunciation in the event the FWC fail’s completely.
Define level 3 alert
Level 3 alerts require immediate corrective or compensatory action by the pilot.
Define level 2 alert
Level 2 alerts require immediate pilot awareness and subsequent corrective or compensatory action.
Define level 1 alert
Level 1 alerts require pilot awareness which may require action.
How are visual alerts cancelled
The MWL and MCL alerts are cancelled when the fault is corrected or the relevant master light is depressed.
Which level 3 annunciations are not cancelled in the normal way
Landing gear not down with flaps > 23 degrees

What is the function of Autoland caution lights
The Autoland caution lights located at the glare shield are dedicated to failures during and involving automatic landings.
When are local lights cancelled
The local lights are cancelled when the fault is corrected.
Which light cannot be dimmed by the brightness selector
Master warning lights, Master caution lights and Autoland caution lights.
On which display units is FWC information presented
The FWC info is represented on the LH MFDU and RH MFDU.
What happens if the display unit fails
If the LH MFDU fails the primary page is automatically displayed on the RH MFDU.
In what priority and colour are alert messages presented
Alert messages appear in Red (level 3) or Amber (level 2 or 1) and will be presented in order of descending priority.
What indication is there that there are more than 11 messages and how do you handle the situation
Page 1 is indicated if there are more than 11 alert messages. The cancel button can be operated to remove the amber alert messages in order to display page 2.
What colour are memo messages when they may be displayed
Memo messages are displayed in Blue. They can only be presented when the number of alert messages leave space available.
Where are procedures presented and when
Procedures are represented on the secondary page if space is available. Except for engine fire no procedures will be displayed on ground.
When and where are status messages displayed
The status messages are displayed on the primary page automatically on ground if parking brake is set or both engines are out or by pressing the status page push button.
Is the FWC operative in a battery power only situation
FWC is inop in a battery power only situation
What can a SAP provide
SAP provides Red and Amber lights and two SAP generated dedicated aural alerts via flight deck speakers and headsets.

When can you do a FWS test and what does it consist of
A FWS test can only be performed on ground. It consist of alert light filament test and automatic back up test.
