Hysteroscopy Flashcards
Normal Intrauterine pressure for hysteroscopy?
80 mm hg
Excessive absorption of normal saline can cause:
(is not associated with hyponatremia)
It can cause volume overload, right-sided heart failure, pulmonary edema, and death
For normal saline, the maximum allowed fluid deficit is:
2,500mL for healthy patients
750mL for those with cardiovascular disease
Treatment of symptomatic hyponatremia requires:
1) infusion of 3% (hypertonic) sodium chloride (0.5-2mL/kg/hr)
2) management by a multidisciplinary team (including a specialist in intensive care).
Fluid overload from normal saline can be managed by:
1) fluid restriction
2) IV furosemide (20-40mg) is indicated if there is clinical or radiological evidence of pulmonary edema.
Diameter of a) myosure b) myosure XL scopes?
a) 6mm
b) 7mm
Air embolism treatment?
Place on left side at 30 degree angle. Pt may have “mill wheel murmur”. Call cardiologist to extract air bubble from left ventricle.
Contraindications to hysteroscopy?
1- IUP
2- Cervical/Endometrial CA
3- Active genital infection
