16
Q

What is the pathogenesis behind Paget’s disease?

A

increased osteoclast activity leading to increased bone turnover. Osteoblast activity then increases to keep up and the new bone isn’t properly remodelled

17
Q

What bones are affected by Paget’s disease?

A

Pelvis, femur, skull, tibia and ear ossicles

18
Q

Can Paget’s disease be asymptomatic?

A

yes

19
Q

If there are symptoms for Paget’s disease, what are they?

A

Arthritis, fracture, deformity, pain and cardiac output failure

20
Q

How do you treat Paget’s disease?

A

bisphosphonates, calcitonin, replace the joint and stabilise fractures
