1
Q
S/S of Hyperkalemia
A
- bradycardia
- dysrhythmia
- flaccid paralysis
- intestinal colic
2
Q
What causes Hyperkalemia?
A
- Addison } dcrease n K+ excretion
- tissue damage
- acidosis
- oliguria (little urine)
- blood transfusion (casue by the breakdown of Blood)
3
Q
ECG
A
- Tall T-wave
- wide QRS
4
Q
NI/TX for hyperkalemia
A
- monitor all system
- discontinue IV K+
- for renal impaired –> administer Na+ polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate) {pomotes Na+ absoprtion and K=excretion)
- administer IV–>Ca gluconate to avert myocardial excitability
- IV–>hypertnic glucose (5% dxtrose to remove excess K+ into cell)
