  • dimnished/absent tendon reflexes
  • renal caluli (flank pain)
  • Polyuria/Polydipsia
  • neurosis ( bad case of anxiety)

  • hyperparathyroidism/ hyperthyroidism
  • use of glucocorticoids
  • dehydration
  • use of lithium
  • Addison’s

NI for hypercalcemia

A
  • meds inhibit Ca+ reabsoprtion–>phophorus, Calcitonin, biphophonate, prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors (aspirin/NSAID)
  • discontinue IV w/ Vit D/ Ca+, thiazide diurectics
  • move client carefully for pathological fracture d/t bone reabsoprtion
  • avoid Ca+ base antacids (Tums, rolaid, Maalox, Mylanta)
