An abnormal accumulation of serous fluid in at least 2 body cavities OR
Serous fluid in only 1 body cavity with tissue edema
The terminal stage for many conditions and signifies fetal decompensation

What causes immune hydrops?
Rhesus factor- a sensitized mother is Rh- and the baby is Rh+ (her second Rh+ baby)
What causes non immune hydrops? Name 3
-severe diabetes
-severe anemia
-TORCH infections
-homozygous thalassemia (SE asia)
-cord torsion
-fetal heart, thorax, etc abnormalities
