What are the indications of HC?
Mild inflammatory skin disorders (eczema, contact dermatitis, insect stings)
It suppresses symptoms rather than cures meaning a rebound exacerbation can occur after discontinuation.
Used when emollients are ineffective.
Side effects of HC?
Spread and worsening of untreated infection.
Thinning of skin.
Contact and perorial dermatitis
Acne
What are the indications and cautions of HC?
Do not use on untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin lesions.
Do not use in acne, rosacea and periorial dermatitis.
Use with caution in psoriasis.
What are the nursing implications for HC?
Assess improvement and deterioration of skin and observe for infection.
