Sudden drop in expectation. Bathos
What is irony?
Opposite of what is said/expected. Tone tempers/coneys meaning

Irony designed to hurt. Purpose of hunting, insulting and humiliating

Mistaken use of a word in place of similar

First letters of words are mixed up

Indirect reference to something
What is a hyperbole?
Gross exaggerating

Collective/Common understanding of a group of people

Saying something in a nicer way. Expresses on an unpleasant or uncomfortable situation
What is slang?
Informal/casual words. Commonly used in groups of people
What is innuendo?
Suggestion or hint

Posture/position to suggest the attitude/action

Shape and size of eyes, mouth. Position of eyebrows ect
What are caricatures?
Exaggerating a particular feature or person
What is a juxtaposition?
Opposites placed next to each other to add effect
What is a situational irony?
Opposite of what is expected occurs
What is a dramatic irony?
Audience has knowledge of something which actors are unaware of
What does a dramatic irony do?
Heightens tension and expectation
