What is film jargon?
Specific terminology
What is a shot?
A photo or film still taken by a camera. Distance from the camera. One shot out of a moving series
What is a scene?
A number of shots that are united by something similar. For example a place
What is a sequence?
A number of related scenes. They are joined scenes
What is a title?
The name of the film
What are the credits?
List of names of actors who have contributed to the film. At the end of the film. Cast is known as actors. Crew is the backstage
What is the soundtrack?
That which you hear. It is the score (composed), dialogue and sound effects. Synchronous means it is in sync with picture, can see where it is coming from. Opposite is non-synchronous
What is focus?
The adjustment of lens to create a desired effect (blurred or sharp focus). For example a composition
Who is the producer?
Controls the business side of film making. They raise the money and employ the crew and cast
Who is the director?
The director controls the creative, artistic side of film making
Who is the cinematographer?
Consults with the director about the various film techniques used
Who is the editor?
Selects and links together the shot to create the final product
How many shots are there?

What is an extreme longshot?
Show scene from a distance. People are small and significance. The background is important. It is called an establishing shot or panoramic shot if it is used to set the scene
What is a longshot?
The entire personal object appears in the frame – from head to toe. There is a little bit of a background
What is a medium longshot?
The person or object is seen from knee to head.
What is a medium/mid shot?
The person or object is seen from the waist up
What is a medium close up?
The personal object is seen from middle of chest to the top of the head
What is a close up?
The face feels this frame. It is used to show detail and facial expression
