The CHP SHALL document the following collisions:
A. All motor vehicle traffic collisions, as defined in Chapter 2 occurring on freeways
B. All motor vehicle traffic collisions, as defined in Chapter 2, occurring on highways outside the limits of incorporated cities.
C. All motor vehicle non traffic collisions, as defined in Chapter 2, resulting in personal injury or death, or involving a violation of CVC Section 20002 in which a driver fails to immediately stop their vehicle at the scene of the collision and report the collision, DUI t/c on private property outside the limits of incorporated cities.
D. All school bus collisions.
E. T/C’s on state property
F. Bicycle collisions on highways within the Department’s geographical responsibility.
G. Collisions involving a vehicle or bicycle being used on departmental business within the limits of an incorporated city when local agency procedures do not require documentation of the collision.

- Rating of Meets or Exceeds in Critical Task #5 on the most recent CHP 118.
- No rating of Substandard in any critical task.
