How Do We Cause Movement? Flashcards
1
We sense movement through eyes and touch
Information sent to brain via sensory neurons to process
2
Brain sends messages down the motor neurones towards the required muscles to react
3
Electrical signal hits the motor unit
4
Intensity of electrical impulses builds up until there is enough energy to excite the unit
5
Acetylcholine is released which allows the motor unit to join with the muscle fibre to become a neuromuscular junction
6
Due to enough power, every muscle fibre touching that unit contracts
7
Causes muscle to move
When enough electricity build up in motor neuron, AP is reached
8
Causes calcium to allow release of acetylcholine enzyme A which allows electricity to move to muscle fibre
9
Muscle then contracts as every muscle fibre attached will contract
