5” Hose
- Never place a right hand twist
- Hose clamp applied on Supply Side of coupling 25ft back from tailboard (do not position yourself on hinge side of clamp)
- Flow of 1200 GPM has 10 PSI friction loss per 100ft (2 sections) of hose
- 1600 GPM practical volume limit of 5” hose
- Pumping 5” hose requires two-stage pumps to be in Volume
- Minimum 10 PSI residual pressure; Never exceed 200 PSI PDP

2-1/2” Hose
Loaded in hosebed w/male coupling out/on top used for :
FDC - supply sprinkler or standpipe systems
Master Stream - supply ground monitor or mini-monitor
Handline - High volume handline for large fires; may be used with gated wye
Supply - transfer water between apparatus on scene
2-1/2” Pre-Connected Handline
- Up to 300 GPM (Advantage)
- 200ft or less (Disadvantage)
Gated Wye
2-1/2” x 1-1/2; every Engine should carry 2 (1 in High Rise bag, 1 on front bumper)
2-1/2” Smooth Bore Nozzle
- 50 PSI NP
- Stacked Tip
1” - 200 GPM
1-1/8” - 250 GPM
1-1/4” 300 GPM - Maximum safe flow through 2-1/2” handline is 300 GPM
- *Add 10 PSI per 100ft of hose
Akron TurboJet 2-1/2” Fog Nozzle
- 100 PSI NP (Adjustable Flow 125, 150, 200, and 250 GPM)
- Break away feature allowing 1-3/4” hose to be extended from play pipe
*Rotating bumper fully clockwise will shut off nozzle even w/bale open
Akron TurboJet Nozzle (75 PSI)
