Star
Face marking
white mark on forehead above a line running from eye to eye
Bald
Face marking
Broad white mark down face, extended over nose. can extend out and around eyes, and down to the upper lip and around the nostrils.
Blaze
Face marking
very wide, covers most of the face and down over the nostrils, covers the entire forehead, but not eyes or nostrils.
Snip
Face marking
mark between nostrils or on lips, usually vertical.
Stripe
Face marking
narrow, vertical white mark down face extending from near the line of the eyes toward the nostrils.
Coronet
Leg marking
any narrow white marking around the hoof.
Half-Pastern
Leg marking
white marking which includes only half of the pastern area above the coronet.
Pastern
Leg marking
white marking which includes the entire pastern area
Ankle
Leg marking
white marking that extends from the coronet to and including the fetlock.
Half-stocking or Sock
Leg Marking
extends around the leg from the coronet halfway up the cannon bone.
Front leg - extends all the way to the knee
Back leg - extends halfway to the hock.
Stocking
Leg marking
full white marking almost to the knee or hock.
