• aka Sam Bates. one of glasgow’s most famous artists
• he has also painted some murals of st enoch and st mungo as modern people but you’ll have to do the city centre tour to see those!
• he works entirely freehand using aerosol cans alone to achieve this photorealistic style through spray paint
• he is from Australia but he has been based in Glasgow since about 2003

This mural is a tribute to Joe Johnston’s film ‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids’ which was released in 1989. It tells the story of an inventor who accidentally shrinks his kids and his next door neightbour’s kids to a quarter ot an inch with his electromagnetic shrinking machine. He then accidentally throws them out with the rubbish, where they must venture into their backyard to return home while fending off insects and other obstacles.
- obviously this mural is not a direct replication, only inspired by the film, or paying homage to it.
