Homeostasis and The Nervous System Flashcards
What is homeostasis
It is about maintaining the optimum internal environment in the body in response to internal and external changes
Where are the two systems which control the internal environment
Nervous system
Hormonal messaging system
What are the 4 key features to a good control system
Stimulus: changes in the environment
Reactant: detect changes
Coordination centre: receive and process the information
Effector: bring responses to the stimulus
What is the difference in structure between the sensory and motor neurones
The sensory neurones carry signals from the outer part of your body to the centre nervous system. The motor neurones carry signals from the centre nervous system to the outer parts of your body
