Q

What happens when you get hotter?

Name 2 cooling mechanisms

A

1) receptors in skin and hypothalamus release cooling mechanisms
2) a) sweat- the water evaporates of of your skin by heat from the body and you cool down

Q

What happens when you get colder?

Name 4 heating mechanisms

A

1) receptors release heating mechanism control and you return to the normal temp
2) a) stop sweating
b) vasoconstriction- the narrow blood vessel means less heat is lost as blood is deeper
c) shivering- muscles contract so muscles respire. Heat is made
d) goosebumps- hair stands up which is a good insulator so heat loss is slower
