9
Q

Why does temp need to be controlled?

A

All enzyme work best at a certain temp. If the body gets too hot or too cold the enzymes won’t work properly and some really important reactions could be disrupted. This could leave to death.

16
Q

What do blood vessels to when you’re hot? Why?

A

Blood vessels supplying the skin dilate so more blood flows close to the surface of the skin. This makes it easier for heat to be transferred from the blood to the environment

17
Q

What happens to your hairs when you are cold? Why?

A

They stand up to trap an insulating layer of air

18
Q

What do blood vessels to when you’re cold? Why?

A

Blood vessels supplying the skin capillaries’ constrict to close off the skin’s blood supply.

19
Q

What happens when you shiver? Why is this useful?

A

Your muscles contract automatically. This needs respiration, which releases some energy to warm the body.
