The Value of money went down and prices went up.

Since the time of the Kaiser but in 1923 things got a lot worse.
What do you call inflation when it is going up really fast?
Hyperinflation
What effect did hyperinflation have on a number of people who had worked hard all their lives?
They became beggars as their pensions and savings had no value.
What effect did hyperinflation have on people who were working?
They found that their wages did not keep up with inflation but they then paid more and more.
Who did the people blame for hyperinflation?
The Weimar Government who had agreed to pay reparations under the Treaty of Versailles.
What did the German government do when they didn’t get money from the Ruhr?
They simply printed more.
Why did the German government print more money in 1923?
The government did not have enough 💶 to pay for the costs of the passive resistance in the Ruhr - so they printed more.
