What is the Ruhr?
The Ruhr is Germany’s most important industrial region.
What did Germany do when French and Belgian troops took over the Ruhr?
They used passive resistance by refusing to work and refusing to have anything to do with the French.

Refusing to work.
How did passive resistance affect Germany?
They became even poorer because Germany was now losing all that the Ruhr would normally have produced.
What happened to Germany when they didn’t keep up with reparations?
French and Belgian troops marched into the Ruhr in an attempt to seize raw materials like coal 🔥for themselves.
Why were France and Belgium allowed to occupy the Ruhr?
It was legal for them to do this under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles if Germany did not pay reparations.
