Histology Flashcards
Cells
similar functioning cells work together to form TISSUES
Tissues
perform a specific function that makes up ORGANS
Organs
to perform one or more larger functions makeup an ORGAN SYSTEM
PNS: Peripheral Nervous System
Bring information from the outside world and from within the body to the CNS for processing
CNS: Central Nervous System
The brain processes the information, makes decisions about what to do, and sends signals back via PNS to bring about a specific change.
How do the Central nervous System and the Peripheral Nervous System work together?
These 2 systems work together to receive and respond to signals.
What are the 4 main lobes of the brain?
Frontal, Tempol, occipital, Pariental Lobes
Frontal Lobe
Responsible for planning and organizing incoming information. Also controls behavior and emotions.
Tempol Lobe
Used for processing language and storing information in long term memory.
Pariental Lobe
Crucial for integrating sensory and visual information
Occipital Lobe
Receives and processes sensory nerve impulses from the eyes.
know where each lobe is located in the brain
what are traumatic brain injuries(TBI)
A brain dysfunction caused by an outside force to the head
what are chronic traumatic encephaiopathy injuries(CTE)
A progressive degeneration, and/or death, of nerve cells caused by repeated head injuries, such as repeated concussions
what are 2 methods of a gross section cut
cut it open and MRI
