Cardiovascular system Flashcards
What are the 4 chambers of the heart
The left atrium and right atrium(upper chambers), left ventricle and the right ventricle(lower chambers)
What are the 4 main vessels of the heart?
aorta, pulmonary trunk, pulmonary veins, and vena cava
What are the 4 valves of the heart?
Tricuspid, Mitral, Pulmonary, and Aortic
Outline the path of blood as it enters and exits the heart
label which parts of the heart hold oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood
be able to draw a heart box diagram correctly
Label the parts of a heart on a anomical diagram
what is the difference between veins and arteries
Arteries are thicker vessels responsible for carrying blood away from the heart and veins are thinner vessels responsible for returning blood back to the heart
what is the difference between pulmonary and systemic circulation?
pulmonary circulation moves blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen and back to the heart so that it can deliver oxygenated blood. Systemic circulation pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body and returns deoxygenated blood back to the heart to be sent out for refueling.
what is the difference between anterior and posterior view?
The base of the heart, the posterior part, is formed by both atria, but mainly the left. The anterior of the heart is formed mainly by the right atrium and ventricle, due to the twisting of the heart during development, which causes the left atrium and ventricle to lie posteriorly.
