Vastus Intermedius
Origin: The anterior and lateral surfaces of the femur and the lateral lip of the linea aspera
Insertion: Tibial tuberosity via the patella and the patellar ligament
Vastus Medialis
Origin: The medial lip of the linea aspera, and the intertrochanteric line and the medial supracondylar line of the femur
Insertion: Tibial tuberosity via the patella and the patellar ligament
Pectineus
Origin: The pectineal line on the superior pubic ramus
Insertion: Proximal Posterior shaft of the femur; pectineal line of the femur
Adductor Longus
Origin: Anterior body of the Pubis
Insertion: The middle ⅓ of the linea aspera of the femur at the medial lip
Adductor Brevis
Origin: Inferior rams of the pubis
Insertion: Proximal ⅓ of the linea aspera of the femur
Adductor Magnus
Origin: Anterior head - inferior pubic ramus and ramus of the ischium
Posterior head - Ischial tuberosity
Insertion: Anterior head - gluteal tuberosity, linea aspera and medial supracondylar line of the femur
Posterior head - adductor tubercle of the femur
Obturator Externus
Origin: The external surfaces of the margin of the obturator foramen on the ischium and the pubis, and the obturator membrane
Insertion: Trochanteric fossa of the femur on the medial greater trochanter of the femur
Gracilis
Origin: The anterior body and inferior ramus of the pubis
Insertion: Pes Anserine Tendon at the proximal anteromedial tibia
Gluteus Maximus
Origin: Posterior iliac crest, the posterolateral sacrum, and the coccyx; and the sacrotuberous ligament, the thoracolumbar fascia, and the fascia over the gluteus medius
Insertion: Iliotibial band and the gluteal tuberosity of the femur
Gluteus Medius
Origin: External Ilium inferior to the iliac crest and between AP gluteal lines
Insertion: The lateral surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Gluteus Minimus
Origin: External Ilium between the anterior and inferior gluteal lines
Insertion: The anterior surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Piriformis
Origin: Anterior Sacrum and anterior surface of the sacrotuberous ligament
Insertion: The superomedial surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Superior Gemellus
Origin: Ischial spine
Insertion: The medial surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Inferior Gemellus
Origin: Superior aspect of the ischial tuberosity
Insertion: The medial surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Obturator Internus
Origin: The internal surfaces the margin of the obturator foramen, the obturator membrane, the ischium, the pubis, and the ilium
Insertion: The medial surface of the greater trochanter of the femur
Quadratus Femoris
Origin: The lateral border of the ischial tuberosity
Insertion: Intertrochanteric crest of the femur
Semitendinosus
Origin: Ischial tuberosity
Insertion: Pes Anserine Tendon at the proximal anteromedial tibia
Semimembranous
Origin: Ischial tuberosity
Insertion: Posterior surface of the medial condyle of the tibia
Biceps Femoris
Origin: Long head - Ischial tuberosity and the sacrotuberous ligament
Short head - Linea aspera and the lateral supracondylar line of the femur
Insertion: Head of the fibula and the lateral tibial condyle
Psoas Major
Origin: Anterolaterally on the bodies of T12-L5 and the intervertebral discs between, anteriorly on the Transverse processes of L1-L5
Insertion: Lesser Trochanter of the femur
Iliacus
Origin: Upper ⅔ of the iliac fossa, AIIS, and the sacral ala
Insertion: Lesser trochanter of the femur
Tensor Fascia Latae
Origin: ASIS and anterior iliac crest
Insertion: Iliotibial band, ⅓ of the way down the thigh
Sartorius
Origin: ASIS
Insertion: Pes anserine tendon at the proximal anteromedial tibia
Rectus Femoris
Origin: AIIS (straight head) and just superior to the brim of the acetabulum (reflected head)
Insertion: Tibial tuberosity via the patella and patellar ligament
Vastus Lateralis
Origin: Lateral lip of the linea aspera of the femur, and the intertrochanteric line and gluteal tuberosity of the femur
Insertion: Tibial tuberosity via the patella and the patellar ligament
