Origin:
Upper: The inion, the medial ⅓ of the superior medial line of the occiput, the nuchal lig, and the spinous process of C7
Middle: spinous processes of T1-T5
Lower: spinous processes of T6-T12
Insertion:
Upper: lateral ⅓ of the clavicle and the acromion process of the scapula
Middle: acromian process and spine of the scapula
Lower: the tubercle at the base of the spine of the scapula
Serratus Posterior Inferior
Origin: Spinous processes of T11-L2
Insertion: Ribs 9-12
Serratus Posterior Superior
Origin: Spinous processes of C7-T3
Insertion: Ribs 2-5
Rectus Capitis Posterior Minor
Origin: the posterior tubercle of the atlas (C1)
Insertion: The medial ½ of the inferior nuchal line of the occiput
Rectus Capitis Posterior Major
Origin: The spinous process of the axis (C2)
Insertion: The lateral ½ of the inferior nuchal line of the occiput
Obliquus Capitis Superior
Origin: The transverse process of the atlas (C1)
Insertion: The occiput between the superior and inferior nuchal lines
Obliquus Capitis Inferior
Origin: The spinous process of the axis (C2)
Insertion: Transverse process of the atlas (C1)
Latissimus Dorsi
Origin: Spinous processes of T7-L5, posterior sacrum, and the posterior iliac crest; all via the thoracolumbar fascia and the lowest three to four ribs and the inferior angle of the scapula
Insertion: Medial lip of the bicipital groove of the humerus
Intertransversarii
Origin: from a TVP
Insertion: TVP directly superior
Interspinales
Origin: from a spinous process
Insertion: Spinous process directly superior
Lavatores Costarum
Origin: TVP of C7-CT11
Insertion: Ribs 1-12 inferiorly
Rotatores
Origin: TVP inferiorly
Insertion: Lamina (superiorly 1-2, levels superior to the inferior attachment)
Multifidus
Origin: Posterior sacrum, PSIS, posterior sacroiliac lig. and L5-C4 vertebrae
Insertion: Spinous processes of vertebrae 3-4 segmental levels superior to the inferior attachment
Semispinalis
Origin: TVP of C7-T10 and the articular processes of C4-C6
Insertion: Spinous processes of C2-T4 and the occipital bone (5-6 segmental levels superior to the inferior attachment)
