Iliopsoas bursitis/tendonitis
Pain and snapping in anterior hip and groin caused by running or the like.
Rest, PT, NSAIDS
Acetabular labral tear
Hip pain and deep click post trauma to hip.
Have pain with hip flex, axial load
Same tx as above
Trochanteric bursitis
Lateral hip pain with no hx of trauma. Tenderness when laying on hip, gradual onset
Deconditioned person w/ increase in exercise
Ice, stretch, NSAIDS, injxn
Osteoarthritis of hip
Progressive R hip and groin pain
Older population
PT, APAP, steroid injxn
Pubic ramus stress fx
Young athlete with progressive groin pain.
Pain w/ jump, run, stretch, land
Activity makes pain worse, no trauma
stress fx imaging and tx
Bone scan or MRI
Relative rest, NO pain w/ activity
Adductor tendinopathy
One-sided stiffness, worse with kicking
Groin pain
RICE
Piriformis strain
Back aches, outer lower back and buttocks
Painful external and internal rotation
Syndrome will have sciatica
Valgum
knock knees
Varum
Bow legs
Most hip disloactions are?
Posterior
Patellofemoral syndrome (PFS)
Chondromalaciae
Very common, most common knee pain in kids and adults (not elderly)
Instable knee, occasional popping
Generally caused by weakness in hips
ACL Tests
Lachman and Anterior drawer
Dont do pivot shift
Can an ACL have a partial tear?
A vast majority of the time it is a complete tear.
