Precautions of hip replacement
A
Posterolateral approach:
no hip flexion greater than 90°;
no internal rotation;
no adduction of affected hip joint
Anterolateral approach:
no external rotation;
no extension;
no adduction of affected hip joint

A
Teach prescribed precautions, safety techniques, and compensatory strategies for ADLs such as lower-body dressing, bathing, sexual activity

Precautions of knee replacement
A
- Maintain good posture
- Avoid forcing the ROM of the joint or aggressive exercise during activities initially
- Avoid development of contracture (avoid knee flexion to prevent extension lag)
- Monitor skin breakdown or infection
- Prevent dislocation of the new joint
