Complex regional pain syndrome CRPS✅ Flashcards
1
Q
definition of CRPS 複雜性局部疼痛症候群
A
pain disproportionate to an injury, either sympathetically maintained/independent of the sympathetic nervous system
2
Q
Types of CRPS
A
Type 1: no definitive evidence of a major nerve injury, occur spontaneously
Type 2: develops after a nerve injury
3
Q
SSx of CRPS
A
- neuropathic pain (spontaneous burning pain)
- allodynia 輕觸痛 (sensation misinterpreted as pain)
- hyperalgesia (increased response to painful stimuli)
- hyperpathia (exaggerated, delayed response to sensory stimuli)
- edema
- contractures
- bluish/red, shiny skin
- abnormal sweating and hair growth
- muscle spasm
- decreased strength
- low tolerance for activity
4
Q
Tx of CRPS
A
- Gentle, pain free AROM
- No PROM
- stress loading e.g. scrubbing the floor, carrying a weighted handbag
- edema
- desensitization (assist with normalizing sensation to the affected
area; progressive stimulation
with very soft material to more textured fabrics
or materials) - mirror therapy with cortical audio-tactile interaction
5
Q
What to assess for CRPS
A
ROM, strength, coordination, dexterity, skin changes, pain/sensation and active use of the extremity during
functional activity
