Q

SSx of CRPS

A
  • neuropathic pain (spontaneous burning pain)
  • allodynia 輕觸痛 (sensation misinterpreted as pain)
  • hyperalgesia (increased response to painful stimuli)
  • hyperpathia (exaggerated, delayed response to sensory stimuli)
  • edema
  • contractures
  • bluish/red, shiny skin
  • abnormal sweating and hair growth
  • muscle spasm
  • decreased strength
  • low tolerance for activity

Q

Tx of CRPS

A
  • Gentle, pain free AROM
  • No PROM
  • stress loading e.g. scrubbing the floor, carrying a weighted handbag
  • edema
  • desensitization (assist with normalizing sensation to the affected
    area; progressive stimulation
with very soft material to more textured fabrics
    or materials)
  • mirror therapy with cortical audio-tactile interaction
