Hip 1 Flashcards
1
Q
Legg-Calve Perthes
A
- Avascular necrosis of femoral head
- Pain in hip, groin, thigh, or knee
- Ages 4-10
2
Q
Slipped capital femoral epiphylysis
A
- Females aged 11-13
- Males aged 13-15
- Overweight, underdeveloped
- Sometimes can only present with knee pain despite clear knee exam
3
Q
CPR for hip OA
A
- Moderate lateral or anterior hip pain during weight bearing
- Age >50
- Morning stiffness <1 hour
- limited hip flexion and IR by more than 15 degrees when compared to unaffected side
- Hip IR <24 degrees
- Pain with passive IR
4
Q
Hamstring syndrome clinical triad
A
- Increased pain with sitting
- Resisted knee flexion at 90 is painful
- With hip in neutral is not
5
Q
Piriformis Syndrome
A
- Increased buttock pain
- Sitting may decrease pain
- +FAIR
6
Q
Hamstring Tendonopathy
A
- Not provoked with DISLR, or DISlump
- Resistive testing with hip flexed and extended is painful
7
Q
Trochanteric bursitis
A
- pain with ER/IR with hip in full flexion
- Negative slump and SLR
- Transverse friction massage makes bursitis worse but tendonopathy better (good diagnostic tool)
8
Q
Pudendal nerve entrapment
A
- can be entrapped between sacrotuberous and sacrospinous ligaments
- deep squatting may aggravate it
- use donut shaped cushion to sit on
- cannot mobilize with nerve mobs due to anatomy
9
Q
Obturator nerve entrapment
A
- deep vague groin pain
- provoked by resisted hip adduction
- post exercise adductor weakness
- parasthesia in medial thigh
