A

-Age >65
-parathesias in extremities
-Dangerous MOI
-MVA at high speeds (100k/hr), or involves rollover/ejection
-Fall from 1+ meter
-Bicycle collision/motorized recreational activity
Presence of 2 or more requires imaging

  • ambulatory at time
  • delayed onset of neck pain
  • absence of midline tenderness
  • minor MVA
  • can rotate neck 45 degrees or more

Predictors to benefit from cervical manipulation version A

Decreased pain, increased satisfaction, increased perception of condition

A
  • Initial NDI score <11.5
  • Bilateral symptoms
  • Not performing sedentary work for more than 5 hours per day
  • Feeling better when moving the neck
  • Did not feel worse with extension
  • Diagnosis of spondylosis without radiculopathy

Predictors to benefit from cervical manipulation version B

Decreased pain, increased satisfaction, increased perception of condition

A
  • Symptoms less than 38 days
  • Positive expectations that manipulation will help
  • Side to side differences in c/s rotation ROM greater than or equal to 10 degrees
  • Pain with PAs to mid c/s
