Initial Operations

First Alarm:
- 5 Engines
- 4 Suppression Chiefs
- 3 Ladders
- 2 Squads
- 2 Rescues
- 1 Rescue Chief
- Special Ops Team
*Only 2 Engines and 1 Ladder dispatched for each additional Alarm

First Arriving Unit
A
- If nothing showing, assume concealed fire
- If smoke or fire showing, initiate 2nd Alarm
*Only 2 Engines and 1 Ladder dispatched for each additional Alarm

First Arriving Unit (Engineer)
A
- Park apparatus in vicinity of FDC; do not impede Ladder company placement
- Proceed to fire alarm panel and remain
- Radio designation is now “Panel Control”
- Prepare to direct incoming crews
- If fire reported below 7th floor, stairs shall be used for initial ascent
- In the event of radio malfunction, Panel Control is responsible for relaying all comms between fire attack teams and Command via fire phones if available

A
1st and 2nd Ladder Companies ; checking doors on ascent as well as brief stops below the reported fire

3rd Ladder Company
A
- Initiate PPV and RIT
- After initiating PPV, pair up w/2nd Squad (one floor below the fire floor) for RIT
*1st and 2nd Ladder companies will drop a PPV w/50’ cord in addition to 3rd Ladder’s PPV w/50’ cord

Squads
A
1st Squad:
- Enter building, announce a stairwell, ascend to roof accounting for victims
- From roof, visually inspect all sides of building for visible fire or trapped victims on ledges
- Primary search of top floor; descend opposite stairwell accounting for victims
- Upon completion, announce it and request another assignment
2nd Squad:
- Form RIT (one floor below fire)
- Pair up w/3rd arriving Ladder company
