Treat Sxs of Interior Cold

A
  • restore normal Fx of internal organs (P: weak, slow, deep; T: pale with white coat (no scallops)
  • Relieve pain: epigastric & abdominal (cold=pain)
  • Dispel cold to warm yang
  • warm SP/ST (nausea/vomiting, belching, loss of appetite, diarrhea, undigested food particles, dysentery
  • strengthen yang (pallor of face/tongue, clear& profuse urination, decreased sexual abilities)
  • restore yang collapse (hypothermia, shock, coma, P: failing depp/hidden or floating/weak)

Fu Zi

A

Aconite Root

Spicy, Toxic, Hot

rescue devastated yang from collapse: warming and assisting HT & KI

  1. restores devastated yang: hospital Fx: shock, hypothermia, low bld pressure, shallow breath, cold. In China put in IV
  2. Warm KI/SP: KI/SP yang def: cold, diarrhea, polyuria (sometimes constipation-no “push”)
  3. expel cold/ reduce pain: warms channel, reduces Bi Zheng (arthritis)
  4. warms HT yang: palpitations, angina, Careful w/ patients re “Ht Pulse” - may be result of trauma.

Contra: all phlegm herbs: Ban Xia (toxic), Bei Mu, Gua Luo

A

Dried Ginger; Zingiber Officinalis

Upper jiao: HT/LU (transport phlegm)

middle Jiao: SP/ST (disperse cold)

  1. expells cold + damp (int excess/SP yang def): nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, indigestion d/t cold
  2. Hospital Fx: oils help cardio vascular&nervous systems. coldness/shock/weak pulse, increase circulation, low BP
  3. transforms cold phlegm (more coagulated/damp: coughing, wheezing, chronic bronchitis, watery clear, easy to expel mucous.
  4. Pao Jiang = charred version, warms channels/stops bleeding

A

Cinnamon bark; cinnamomum cassia

Spicy, sweet, hot

For deficient people

Treating def cold in lower jiao

  1. warms HT/SP/KI yang: relieves pain of all kinds and weakness by warming these organs. Yang qi def=pain, cold and weakness Sxs
  2. warms meridians: good at expeling cold: gyno stuff: amenorrhea, stasis w/ clots or late periods, Bi Zheng
  3. aids skin healing as a powder in external applicationor drink in formula- helps push blood
  4. tonification fx for qi and bld deficiency: fatigue, BM issues, pallor, dizziness, dry skin
  5. Hot above/cold below- leads fire back to KI (true cold/false heat): cold low limbs, flushed face, wheezing

A

Spicy, bitter, sl toxic, hot

Lower burner: cold bulging disorders, diarrhea d/t cold

belching and vomiting when LV involved

Pain medicine (for cold only); in many formulas for cold of ST/SP. Oils warming-relate to Ren, Chong, Du, Dai channels

  1. analgesic: pain reliever, works thru nervous system, head ache, St pain, cold, hernia pain- relieves LV constraint
  2. excellent at warming ST: reduces vomiting, diarrhea w/ undigested food particles, nausea, rebellious qi (brings down)
  3. mouth/tongue sores, regurgitation
  4. pin worms (sl toxic)

recommends as food not formula; great table medicine

black and white (and green) are same-one w/o husk- red different
