- Moves qi and blood, relieves pain, used as analgesic: gyno stuff, arthritis (bi Zheng), chest/abdominal pain, trauma.
- Reduce swelling, promote healing externally: helps pass sores to surface: mouth, gums, throat, ext sores, abscesses, gynecology
MR: cancer cell apoptosis (cell death) = anti cancer
Caution: sensitive stomach= N/V

- Both: Guide downwards (bitter property), directs herbs or fire or blood downward, upper jiao heat- drains out lower jiao: epistaxis, toothache, mouth ulcers, dizziness, HTN, LV yang rising +/- pus
- Chuan Niu Xi only: clears damp heat from lower jiao: UTIs (“re” =heat or “xue” =blood): stones, low back pain, hematuria, painful urination
