9
Q

why did henry marry anne of cleves

A

-Jane Seymour had died, so Thomas Cromwell thought this was a good opportunity to marry him to a protestant
-France and Spain had an alliance which posed a threat to England, so by marrying Anne of Cleves he was making an alliance with Germany and marrying a protestant
-This worsened henrys relationship with cromwell after he said she was too ugly to marry him
